Bridge in the County

Cambs & Hunts offers a rich variety of clubs and venues in which you can play duplicate bridge.  Every weekday there is a club that will welcome you!

The English Bridge Union (EBU) represents the formal interests of bridge in the UK.  There are 14 clubs affiliated to Cambs & Hunts (such clubs are recognised by the EBU).  Some clubs offer sessions on more than one day.

Bridge has a particularly strong tradition of success in the county. Partly as a result of Cambridge University, the county has over the past forty years produced many of the country's finest players.  Today, Cambridge continues to be home for several players in contention for international selection at junior, open and senior levels.

The County runs competitions for its members (see the Competitions page) which are mostly suitable for anyone who plays in clubs, and in addition there are national events, generally of higher standard but still suitable for many club pairs.

The County puts forward teams for various competitions against other counties (Tollemache and Eastern Counties League), the Tollemache aimed at the the top players of each county, while the Eastern Counties League has wider participation (see Tollemache and ECL for details of team selection).

There are currently about 800 EBU members in the county, spread across 14 affiliated clubs.
